I am the other half of CleverCat Tutoring and the one maintaining its Facebook page.  April also says I'm the one coming up with all the great business ideas, like the Clever Credits.

 

I am an Eagle Scout with over a decade of teaching life skills and guiding young men behind me, as well as taking the lessons I learned in Scouting into my personal life, focusing on helping others around me better themselves.

 

I started out tutoring in high school, back in 10th grade. I tutored a fellow student in Geometry, basically having to fill in for a less than effective teacher. This student ended up passing the class with a B, saying "I wouldn't have even passed that class if it hadn't been for Tim"

 

I went on tutoring my classmates through high school and beyond, helping with such subjects as Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, English IV, and even helping tutor the Pre-Engineering courses that were specialized to my school. 

 

After high school, I went on to attend South Piedmont Community College(SPCC), taking mainly Electrical Engineering courses, as well as maintaining a workstudy with the instructor of these courses. As a part of my workstudy, I assisted my fellow classmates better understand the material, sometimes even as it was being taught to us. To this day, I have one student from one of these courses who constantly tells me how, If I hadn't personally taught him the voltage/amperage/resistance triangle, he would have dropped out of the whole program, possibly even the whole college.

 

Most recently, I have helped fellow Scouts and Venturing members with their high school math, ranging from Algebra II to the new Common Core Math II.

 

I will soon be joining the team of tutors at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College as a math, chemistry, and possibly computer science tutor.  I take a very patient approach to teaching students concepts and I work well with younger students. 

 

In my free time, I enjoy hiking and backpacking through miles of trails. Anything that gets me outside, with the ground beneath my feet and the sky over my head, really.
